The town of Bluefield Economic Growth Committee sponsors a Business Appreciation Evening today from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the VFW Building on Route 19 just outside Bluefield corporate limits. The press release says it is a chance to thank the businesses that make the town a great place to live and work.
Buchanan County plans to publish nearly 1 million dollars in delinquent taxes and the names of responsible taxpayers next week in the Virginia Mountaineer. Treasurer Bill Keene reports 379,678 dollars paid since August and 462,230 dollars collected since June 30 1999. Extensions push payment deadline to October 5 with year 2000 bills to be mailed later this month or November.
The Premier Beer Competition in West Virginia draws crowds to Bramwell on Oct 7 from 2 to 7 PM. A walking Millionaire Row tour pairs ethnic foods with craft beer, barbecue, pig roast, and a car show.
