Welch Former mayor Adkins sentenced for embezzlement
Former McDowell County Mayor Dale Adkins received a prison term of one to ten years for felony embezzlement and was ordered to pay 20000 dollars in restitution to the town. He also drew one year for a misdemeanor count of unlawful expenditure of public funds. Sentences run consecutively per court spokesman. Adkins pleaded guilty in August to both counts.
