Charleston West Virginia November 29 The new tax collection act directs state taxes on privileges franchises and incomes to pay bond interest sinking funds and amortization for counties and school districts while observing constitutional limits. Municipalities would cover debt and current expenses from limited city levies only with 60 percent voter approval.
Detroit police said fingerprint comparisons identified a nude body found in a suburban ditch as Verne Miller, a known gangster linked to the Urschel kidnapping and the Frank Nash case. The slain man had been dead about 24 hours, with his skull crushed and red hair aiding ID.
Chicago reports Milwaukee Road traffic for November 1-28 totaled 91 019 car loadings, up from 6 926 in the same period last year, signaling stronger freight activity this year.

The jury recommended mercy but Judge Summers H Sharp denied it calling the crime an atrocious grime. The widow Elizabeth Tyree 28 identified Kershner as the caller who lured her husband to a farm lot and introduced ballistics evidence linked a shotgun to the crime.
Andrew Edmiston Jr. won the Third district congressional seat by 5 741 votes in a special election. He led with 30 612 votes to Howard Gore's 24 871 and will replace the late Lynn Horner in the next session.
Chicago reports Dr. Alice L. Wynekoop indicted for the murder of her daughter in law Rheta on a sickbed. She later repudiated a confession in a dramatic hospital interview while denouncing the prior statement as truth. Arraignment for Dr. Wynekoop is set for Monday as police seek more evidence against Earle Wynekoop.

New Orleans November 29 Peter A. Barros testified before the senate committee investigating Senator John H. Overton’s election. Barros denied being a dead man at the 1932 primary and rejected claims that someone voted under his name. He stated he was alive on September 13 1932 amid laughter in the hearing.
Kennett Missouri November 29 a 23 year old Black man C D Ward was sentenced to death for criminally assaulting two white women last May 28 by Judge J W Billings. Sheriff Thomas Donaldson spirited him out of town after the verdict and would not say where. Officials expected no mob action despite high feeling in Dunklin county. The circuit court jury found Ward guilty but could not agree on punishment.
Two young women Florence Miller and Ethel Marshall were buried in a shallow field near Brandywine Manor after being linked to gangster slayings in Camden and Bellmawr New Jersey. Investigators traced a hotel incident and a Philadelphia holdup tied to their disappearance.
Bluefield prepared for a Thanksgiving holiday with schools dismissed for the long weekend and most businesses closing. Grocers and produce firms kept late hours to fill orders, while post offices banks stores and offices planned closures. Public schools let out early as churches announced a union service at Westminster Presbyterian.
