Suit filed for mobile home residents over rent increases in Mercer County
Mountain State Justice announces a lawsuit in Mercer County Circuit Court on behalf of residents in five manufactured housing communities against Smith Management LLC and Homes of America LLC. The plaintiffs say out of state owners have raised lot rents, without permits or licensing in West Virginia, while failing to make repairs, creating unsafe conditions and risking displacement of veterans seniors and families before Christmas.

American Rescue Plan funds will fund debris removal and erosion repairs on an East River bridge blocking Saunders Grove Baptist Church access to its sanctuary and cemetery. Rev Earl Rogers pressed the county commission in October for money to fix the bridge amid flood risks from river debris. Keith Gunnoe said at a Nov 22 special meeting he spoke with Southern Soil Conservation and others about the project.

Moratorium placed on new ARP grants in Mercer
Mercer County Commission has imposed a moratorium on new American Rescue Plan grants through early 2023 while considering remaining funds.
