An elderly Princeton area woman died at Princeton Community Hospital on Monday from injuries after a fall at a brother’s home. Identified as 78 year old Mrs. Letha Gertrude Ballard of Ambrose Lane off Ingleside Road, she lived with her brother Ira Bird. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at George S Seaver Mortuary in Princeton.

Ex-McDowell Man Found Dead Near Capels
Everett Hampton Thomason, 61, of Roanoke Rapids North Carolina and formerly of Mohawk, was found dead Monday morning in his car near Capels. The body was sent to the state medical examiner in Charleston for an autopsy. Deputy E W Sparks of the McDowell County Sheriff's Department is investigating. A federal grand jury indicted seven liquor companies and nine officers on 109 counts of misdemeanor bribery. From 1973 to 1976 the firms allegedly gave alcohol to state officials to win business from the Alcohol Beverage Control Commission, West Virginia’s sole retailer of liquor.

Court To Eye Rose's Appeal
The state Supreme Court agreed to hear electrical engineer Willie Rose's appeal from a Mercer County Circuit Court injunction.
