Notables including Admirals Schley Harrington and General Davis attended.
In Clio Arkansas on Monday night three men were assassinated as they stepped from a train. The victims are Thomas R. Godfrey of Pine Bluff a lumberman Clarence L. Bush a telegraph operator and A B McEwin a singing teacher from Grant county who was a bystander. One shooter unknown. Bush ran along the tracks but was mortally wounded and his body has not been found.
A forecast for West Virginia calls for cooler temperatures on Thursday or Thursday night with rain. Winds shift to southerly and fresh, following a warmer Wednesday.
Bascomb Slemp Republican nominee in Virginia Ninth District reports a rare letter from Speaker Cannon dated November 23 1907 praising his nomination to fill his father's unexpired term in the sixtieth Congress and urging the largest Republican vote in district history.

In Lalla Magna Algeria on November 26 French troops continue patrols to scatter Arabs after two defeats. Natives mount scattered resistance from mountain slopes as fighting rages since Sunday. Arabs claim about fifteen hundred killed with about thirty French casualties.
Chicago reports Howard Payson Weston began his final leg from Chesterton at 11 this morning on a record walk from Portland Missouri. He plans to reach the Chicago Beach Hotel seven miles south of downtown by midnight and finish the journey before noon tomorrow.
Constantinople reports indicate recent Black Sea storms caused heavy losses at sea. The steamship Kaplan foundered off Eregli Asia Minor with 110 dead, and numerous smaller craft were overwhelmed, pushing total casualties above 200.

A major blaze erupted in a Holborn athletic outfitting establishment causing extensive damage to the building and stock. The site employed about 1,800 people including 600 women before firefighters brought the fire under control.
Howard Maxwell former president of Borough Bank Brooklyn indicted for grand larceny and forgery was released on $80,000 bail and died by his own hand. He cut his throat and left wrist in his Brooklyn home bathroom after despondent imprisonment. Maxwell 49, left a wife, no children, once considered a rising financier amid the bank crash. His death follows Charles T. Barney’s recent suicide at Knickerbocker Trust Company.
Washington reports the senate military affairs committee near completion of testimony on the Brownsville matter in Texas with one potential witness remaining. A final hearing is planned Friday to hear the last witnesses before deciding a report on the inquiry next Monday.
