Bluefield Union Mission drew about 60 volunteers and around 600 people were served during the 79th annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Volunteers prepared 600 hot meals and 220 family food baskets for distribution, with organizers calling the event a beehive of activity and noting it provided both meals and grocery support.
Bluefield residents pack Lotto Park for the Holiday of Lights kickoff at 6 p.m. with Parks Director Pete Sarver and City Board Member Mike Vinciguerra presiding. Attendees lined up as the new Buccaneer Drive entrance proved effective, while Sarver credited Mayor Whalen and City Manager Merriman for support.
