Yesterday at 7 35 am Mrs Emma J Morgan died at her son Frank Morgans home after a year long cancer illness. The 61 year old funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Baptist church in Charlottesville where she was a member. The remains were moved to train No 16 for transport from Franklin street.
William Tait and H. W. Morgan accompanied by Mrs. Morgan and her son arrive in the city after moving here about a year ago to join their son, who holds a responsible position with the Norfolk and Western.
Charleston reports Governor Glasscock plans to appoint a new tax commissioner as Townsend’s six year term ends soon. Townsend filled an unexpired term and may stay through the legislative session. Names mentioned include Frank Lively and Congressman Joseph Holt Gaines as possible successors.
