A Dallas report profiles Jack Ruby a tough loner with a volatile temper who shot Lee Harvey Oswald. Ruby, real name Rubenstein, is described as a nightlife figure with a record of arrests, self confidence, and a wary edge toward authorities.
NBC correspondent Irving Levine reports from Rome that Mrs Ngo Dinh Nhu cabled Mrs Jacqueline Kennedy expressing profound sympathy after the assassination of President Ngo Dinh Diem and his brother in law the coup in South Vietnam.
Oswald was shot and killed during a routine jail transfer in Dallas by Jack Ruby a 52 year old strip club owner. The killing followed Kennedy's assassination and prompted a full FBI investigation ordered by President Johnson. Ruby spoke little as he was charged with murder and Oswald died at 1 07 p.m. in a Dallas hospital.
In Dallas crowds reacted with mixed feelings after Lee Harvey Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby. Some cheered while others mourned the loss, with Mayor Cabell urging calm and regret that Oswald could not be tried. The Rev. Oscar Huber urged that the shooter be held accountable.

Police found no bomb after searches. about 350 churchgoers were evacuated.
