In New York City, thieves robbed Brothers Pizzeria owners on Staten Island and fled with a bag believed to contain proceeds but held only pizza dough. Salvatore LaRosa faced robbery charges after surrendering to police and was released on $1 million bail. His attorney declined comment.

Construction on the Mercer County segment of the Hatfield McCoy Trails is underway with an expected April or May 2011 opening. Jeff Lusk said two crews work four 10 hour days weekly on parallel projects at Camp Creek State Park Pocahontas trails and the main system, as engineers are recruited to design the trailhead and access road near Bramwell.
Blayne Christian of Cashmere, 18, shot and killed his first bear with a bow on his parents property during deer archery season. The 325 pound animal appeared suddenly as he hunted, stood his ground, and fell after about a single shot. He plans to mount or rug the trophy. Deer activity in the area has been light as gun season opens.
Princeton Florida man Juan Manresa Leyva 40 of Hollywood faces breaking and entry and grand larceny charges from the 2009 Diamond Land Jewelry burglary in Princeton. Prosecutors say a plea agreement will see Leyva plead to breaking and entry with a 1 to 10 year range, a Dec 2 hearing scheduled.
