Acme Markets joined the Bluefield Union Mission to provide complete Thanksgiving meals in Westgate Shopping Center. The eighth annual effort distributed 370 meal tickets, with 118 meals served in the first 10 minutes and volunteers delivering 31 meals to shut-ins.
Princeton detachment of State Police reports donations beginning for the annual State Troopers for West Virginia Needy drive. The program collects non perishable food and toys for local families at Christmas, with Salvation Army distribution through Princeton. Trooper D F Hemetek notes some items have arrived but overall donations are down from last year.
