Ex CIA analyst charged with espionage in China spying case
Former CIA analyst Larry Wu-Tai Chin, 63, was charged with conspiring to commit espionage for selling U.S. secrets to China since 1952. He received more than 140000 dollars for information gathered over 30 years while employed at the U S consulate in Hong Kong and the CIA Foreign Broadcast Information Service in Virginia. Chin, who retired in 1981, appeared in Alexandria federal court and faces life in prison and a 250000 dollar fine if convicted. He was held without bond awaiting detention hearings.
