Guard To Assist In Rescue Of Hunters
Gov Arch A Moore Jr put Air National Guard helicopters on standby to aid in rescuing deer hunters marooned by heavy snows in Preston Tucker and possibly Grant counties. If weather clears, helicopters will join the effort Wednesday to spot hunters from the air. Snow plow crews reported drifts six to eight feet. 25 hunters had been reached on Cabin Mountain near Canaan Valley. Six marooned hunters reached a ranger station in Dolly Sods reported others in the area with three in a cabin suffering exposure.
