The Champ case, charged with robbing the Princeton post office, dragged on as witnesses testified and motions to strike evidence were fought. Jake Helsel linked Champ to the day before and after the theft, while ongoing cross examinations sought to discredit key testimony.
Witnesses testified as the hearing continued amid injuries and a cleared air. Deputy Marshal Young attempted to arrest McClaugherty and Belcher but was overpowered. Commissioner Maynard then intervened and had the pair arrested. They posted $200 bonds for December third appearance on contempt charges. The case is not expected to finish before Monday.

President Castro believes a conspiracy against him exists and orders the arrest of Ramon Guerra the minister of war. Joaquin Garido succeeds Guerra while Guerra partisans including Montauban are rounded up in Caracas causing a sensation and signaling possible further trouble.

In a colorful police court session, Sam Sisk battered his wife and faced a $6.80 fine, Will Honaker was fined $380 for disruptive language, M C Read paid $4.80 for street peace, Oscar Paris paid $11.80 for coal theft, and John Ray was jailed for assault with a calico of a woman, with each case settled by city penalties.
In Huntington West Virginia on November 20 a fire consumed Armour and Co building. Firemen left the cadaver to fight remaining flames at the C and O freight sheds as fifty cars burned. Concerns extended toward the central city near the railroad.
Henry Walker a Roanoke carpenter died at City Hospital after an inquest found he was struck on the head by a chair wielded by Matthew Carner. The fatal blow occurred on the afternoon of November 11.
