Programs include vocational courses with Southwest Virginia Community College, counseling religious services and GED. Jewish and Black Muslim religious programs are noted as needed. An internal adjustment committee handles inmate discipline in a court-like setting.
The Community Christmas Tree campaign requests donations to help 1,200 local children with toys candy stocking stuffers and fruit. Donations can be dropped at the Daily Telegraph lobby or mailed to Bluefield Daily Telegraph P O Box 1599 Bluefield WV 24701. The Dec 24 party at Bluefield Youth Center will showcase donors names on the front page.
