Two boys ages 11 and 12 were arraigned before Magistrate C C McGuire and held for juvenile court action. One was released to parental custody. They face charges of stealing a .22 rifle and a cowboy gun from Princeton Hardware and Supply.
Council heard first reading on multiple permits. Joe Tomchin seeks a brick warehouse on Fourth street at Harrison for 5000 dollars. G V Chatting plans a frame smokehouse at 402 South Fifth for 300 dollars. Ira L Baxter seeks a six room frame house on High street for 2000 dollars. C T Snidow proposes two brick veneer houses on Princeton Avenue at 4000 dollars each. Mrs S W Mills requests a three room frame house behind 407 Straley Avenue.
The Supreme Court agreed to decide whether theft of a seven month old dog valued at 100 dollars is larceny in the strict sense. Barbour county defendant J. H. Arbogast was indicted on the larceny charge after the circuit court overruled a defense motion to dismiss. The case centers on the dogs age and whether the indictment alleged ownership taxes were paid.
In Coquille Oregon on November 21 three inmates overpowered 70 year old jailer G H Atherton at the Coos County jail and escaped armed with guns. The prisoner David Clinton Maynard was identified as one escapee and was said to be held for West Virginia authorities. West Virginia’s probation and parole office said it had no record of the prisoner in Charleston.
Police continue investigation into the knife slaying of Charley Oulds 28 in McComas with Lloyd Martin 26 to be arraigned before Magistrate Otto Walker as Sheriff Elmore and Trooper Bazzie report. Martin claims a struggle and says Oulds drunk remained outside. funeral set for Wednesday at New Morning Star Baptist Church with Rev Pittard officiating. Survivors include his mother Mary Oulds and siblings Estelle Rogers Marion Dudley Martha Boulden and Mary Wilburn.
Holiday, Thursday changes shift WMS Mary Burke Memorial Baptist church to 7 30 PM. Quota Club to meet at 6 10 PM Virginian hotel. WSCS First Methodist held meeting with Mrs Covey presiding and Mrs Hinchee guest speaker on Crescent and Five Pointed Star. Forum Club to elect officers at 8 PM at Mrs Wells home.
Princeton residents hosted guests over the weekend on Honaker avenue and Highland avenue. Mr. Marvin Alexander and family from Norfolk joined Mrs. W. L. Hunter and Mrs. John Ayers for the weekend. Mrs. Kelly Schaub of Seattle and Wichita along with Mrs. Mae Richardson of Kingsport visited their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bolin. Mr. Schaub is a technical instructor for Boeing’s jet bomber project in Seattle. Michael Haley, visiting his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Hale, has returned to Kingsport, Tennessee.
Princeton firemen were called out at 6 10 o clock Sunday evening because of a short in an electric stove at the home of Robert Brown 913 Harrison street. The fire was cut when firemen arrived as they went to 195 Harrison street the number given. Firemen request that all fire calls be made to the telephone operator and not to city offices and persons giving the alarms be careful to give correct information as to location of the fire.
New Year’s Eve celebration known as Homanay Night in Scotland ends the Christmas season. Children roam signing carols and sharing sweets as part of local customs.

The Friendship Garden club convenes at 8 o clock with Mrs. Ben Bird as host and Mrs. L L Lambert as co host. Guest speaker Mrs. W R Graham of Bluefield will judge Thanksgiving arrangements brought by members. Kee Street church WSCS meets Wednesday at 2 with quarterly reports from all circles.
R A Meadows sues J T Pitzer and Thelma Pitzer in circuit court for assumpsit damages listed as 1000 in a suit filed yesterday under December rules.
