Budget pact nears wrap as Gramm Rudman cuts loom
Washington AP reported budget negotiators closed most terms on a two year deficit reduction plan worth about 75 billion dollars but divisions within Republicans threatened final passage. White House Chief of Staff Howard Baker said Reagan would order 23 billion in Gramm Rudman Hollings cuts even if no late deal emerges. House Minority Leader commented on the challenge of conveying the figures.

West Virginia coal output rises in first nine months of 1987
West Virginia mined 99.8 million tons through September, up from 99.0 million a year earlier, per a Department of Energy report. Princeton's top citizen of the year named
George Sink, manager of Princeton's Maidenfarm plant, was named Outstanding Citizen of the Year by the Princeton Mercer County Chamber of Commerce at its annual banquet Thursday night. Sink, a Chamber board member active in civic work, was not present due to a company transfer. his wife Freddie Sink accepted the award. He was reported to be in Puerto Rico.
