Bluefield volunteers plan town Christmas tree lighting today
Volunteers and members of the Downtown Bluefield Virginia Business and Professional Association will decorate and light the town Christmas Tree starting at 5 p.m. at the new town park on the former Chicago House site. They will also stuff about 300 Christmas bags to be placed in the VFW Building on Virginia Avenue.

Leckrone retires after spotless 35‑year railway career
Marshall "Yogi" Leckrone began as a pipe fitter with the Nickel-Plated Wabash Railway in 1959 and retired in 1994 from Norfolk Southern as assistant foreman locomotives in the Bluefield Yard. He completed 35 years of work without a single on the job accident or injury, a record praised by NS master mechanic Barry Reese at a retirement luncheon.
