Tragic train crash kills itinerant minister near Kellysville
Edward Morgan 40, an itinerant minister and supply pastor for New Zion church, died when his 1936 Dodge sedan was struck by a Virginian coal train at a private crossing near Kellysville early Sunday. Mrs Minnie Johnson and the Thompson children survived with minor injuries. Morgan's two sons and widow survive. The crash occurred in a 28 mile per hour zone. Morgan and three passengers had spent the night at George Johnston’s home nearby. The rescue and investigation followed as Sheriff Crumpecker and others examined the scene. engineer A. R. Clarence Davis Nabbed on Felony Warrant in Old Farm House
County officers pursued Clarence Davis for four months on a maiming charge after a stabbing in which Elsie Petry lost use of her arm. Davis was found hiding in an abandoned house on his father’s Gardner, Virginia farm late Saturday night, following a tip from Deputy E H Martin.

A GMAC tractor and trailer owned by Mountain Trucking burned on the Beckley highway near Kegley causing about 25000 dollars in losses. The cargo valued at 27000 dollars included 308 cases of Camel cigarettes. 308 cases of 50 cartons each, were saved and much of the cargo salvaged by the public. The truck and cigarettes were hauled to Johnson Motor Co. garage with Princeton fire department saving most of the cargo.

Virginia physician flies to Princeton to save child’s life
A Medical College of Virginia doctor answered an emergency call and flew to Princeton West Virginia to remove a coal piece from 28 month old Jimmy Dawson’s lungs. The operation occurred in candlelight after Princeton’s electric lights failed and lasted two hours. The physician, unnamed, was assisted by an interne and returned to Richmond with two copilots Ivor Massie and Buddy Hamilton piloting the plane.

Webster Talley Fatally Shot After Squire Cafe Quarrel
In McDowell county a late Saturday shooting at a Squire cafe left Noah Webster Talley dead and Avery H. Weston wounded. Weston, a former Big Creek constable candidate and restaurant owner, faced Talley after a prior dispute with Tom Talley. Weston fired from behind the counter, killing Noah with four chest hits after Noah drew a 44 revolver. Henry Talley and Tom Talley were arrested. Tom released on bond. Noah Talley of Canebrake born August 8, 1903, leaves a wife and mother, plus three brothers. Funeral plans pending.

Two Die As Cars Collide Near Pineville Wyoming
Bernard Browning 21 of Jesse died in a head on crash near Red Jacket Wyoming County at 5 30 Sunday afternoon. Barnett Sych 24 of Wyndham suffered serious injuries and is hospitalized at Stevens Clinic in Welch. Tracy Belcher and Mrs Sych were treated and released or remained under care as details remain unclear. Mullens state police investigate the accident on a long straight road. Browning died en route to a Mullens hospital while Sych’s skull and facial injuries were described as potentially serious but the prognosis later appeared favorable.
