Susie Bailes, a senior at Princeton High School and the sole West Virginia member of a 98 piece All Student Band, toured Europe from Winchester to London then across Scotland, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, France, and Italy. The group performed 15 concerts in 30 days learning from diverse audiences.

Emergency Center Designs Planned at Statehouse Basement
A Martinsburg engineer will draft initial designs for Gov. Hulett Smith's Emergency Operations Center in the Statehouse basement. The center will house 300 key state officials in emergencies. Willard F. Wurzburg Jr. awarded the contract. construction is set at $170,000 funded jointly by federal and state funds.

Sheree Crotty ten year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Arn Crotty of Memorial Avenue Bluefield is invited as a guest of the Bordermen group at Princeton High School Saturday night show at 8. Proceeds will finance Student Council activities including sending a delegate to state events. Bordermen include Mike Tackett Buba Fowler and Chuck Woolery. Fowler plays banjo Tackett guitar Woolery bass fiddle and has been drafted. Mike Wagoner is president of Princeton High Student Council.

Robert Wright, supervisor of music, told Princeton Athens Kiwanis Club members at the Virginian Hotel that every elementary student in the county now receives music education. Seven resource teachers cover about 30 classrooms weekly with follow up by regular teachers. Instrumental music is offered for grades five through twelve with plans for a future string program. Several schools offer music history and appreciation, and music instruction in the School for Exceptional Children has proven successful. Guests included Roger Elmore Nolan Woodring Carol Church and Roxana Earley. Bill Moxley Jr. presided.
