Preacher in Coalfields Keeps Souls With Funeral Faith
ROWE Virginia Reverend Ancil Childress known as the mine region preacher has delivered more than 2,500 funerals since 1949. He has buried eight people in eight days and once conducted three funerals in six hours. A coalfields native who left school after the fifth grade, he spent years in mines before turning to full time ministry and has become a storied figure in the McGlothlin family cemetery and surrounding communities.
