Music figures join fight against mountaintop mining
In Nashville a campaign named Music Saves Mountains formed to oppose mountaintop coal removal. Sponsored by the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Gibson Foundation, it drew attendees including Emmylou Harris, Randy Travis, Dierks Bentley, Kid Rock and J.D. Souther. Robert F Kennedy Jr urged protection for the Appalachian mountains, birthplace of country music.

WVU Forecast Sees Sluggish WV Job Recovery in 2010
West Virginia University projects employment will grow only modestly through 2014, with a 0.7 percent annual gain as the state recovers from 22,600 lost jobs. Recovery centers on services rather than energy, with gains led by professional and business services, health care, and leisure hospitality. Chain saw dispute ends in stabbing in Davy WV
A Davy dispute over a stolen chain saw Tuesday escalated into a fight that left McDowell County resident Dock Roberts hospitalized in stable condition. Anthony Cantrell, 41, of Davy was arrested on malicious wounding, assault during a felony, and brandishing charges and jailed pending arraignment. State troopers led the investigation with other officers assisting.
