Maine officer chases loose chicken in Augusta neighborhood
Augusta Maine AP reports animal control officer Paul Frye and two locals wrangled a wandering black fowl that had roamed the area for weeks. The chicken is being cared for by Officer Brad Chase at his home as cops search for ownership. Chase previously caught another chicken in March.

The Tazewell County Sheriff's Office seeks adoptive homes for five confiscated horses found neglected and malnourished at a Boissevain residence. Four were seized Thursday, described as in bad shape with no proper food or shelter. one horse is missing an eye. Sheriff's Lt. Hieatt said the owner surrendered the animals.

Armistice Ends World War I Marked by Monuments and a Baby
A century after the armistice that ended World War I, regional monuments honor veterans and the era’s impact. The 1930 Memorial Building near the Mercer County Courthouse now houses the Those Who Served War Museum.
