Saigon envoy rejects equal status for NLF in peace talks
South Viet Nam observer Pham Dang Lam says Saigon will not allow the NLF to have independent status or enter talks on equal footing with Saigon in the broadened peace conference. He spoke after returning from Paris with President Thieu's plan and noted a wide gap with Hanoi over how to proceed. Lam warned that no concession will be made where vital interests are concerned, as Saigon seeks a single delegation led by Saigon with Hanoi counterparts.
