George R. Gish dies in Georgia at 73
George R. Gish Sr. 73 a longtime Bluefield official of the General Telephone Company of the South east died in an Atlanta nursing home. He retired in 1959 as secretary treasurer of the Bluefield district after joining the company in 1913. Born in Vinton Virginia he was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a member of the Bluefield Masons Elks and Vinton Methodist Church. Graveside services set for Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton Friday at 3 30 p.m. Rev. Marvin White to officiate.

Ground Broken For Alexander Center At Concord College
Ground breaking for the Oakey Logan Alexander Center for the creative and performing arts at Concord College occurred Thursday morning. The $2.8 million facility is slated to complete in April 1953 with contributions from the Alexander Foundation $148,000 West Virginia state $1,650,000 the U S Office of Education $515,000 and the Appalachian Commission $187,000.
