Marine guards arrive to protect mail between Bluefield and Columbus
A nine man detachment of United States Marines arrived from Quantico Virginia to guard mail trains between Bluefield West Virginia and Columbus Ohio and on Pocahontas division lines. Marines will accompany every load of mail moved between post office and trains with two armed guards on trucks and a guard at the post office building. Bluefield is headquarters for the Marines assigned to the Norfolk and Western route.
