Hikers Blaze Five Mile Whiskey Trail From Bland To Giles

Bramwell residents will mark a new five mile trail in the Chestnut Mountain area linking Bland County to Giles County and Pocahontas Virginia. The Whiskey Trail Chapter of the West Virginia Scenic Trails Association will blaze the route with golden WV paint today. Volunteers from Mercer Tazewell and McDowell counties are urged to meet at the Bluestone Inn at 10 a.m. for a daylong effort to create a tourism booster and self run project.

Parents block Route 92 to Baileysville High School

About 50 parents blocked a section of Route 92 for a second day, turning back six buses. Superintendent Frank Blackwell confirmed erosion and coal-truck weight endangering the hillside and that roughly 200 to 250 students use the road daily.
