U S troops backed by air and artillery launched a ground assault to seize Fallujah’s insurgent bastions. Two Marines died as a bulldozer overturned near the Euphrates. Mercer County may wait ten more days to reacquire convicted child sex abuser Larry Franklin Wert. Wert, 52, of Princeton, was captured by San Antonio police after a traffic stop. Authorities notified Mercer officials November 6 that Wert remains jailed without bond and extradition hearings are set for November 18, delaying his transfer back to Mercer.
National Weather Service issued a freeze warning through today with subfreezing lows around 30 degrees. Hurley's Greenhouses urges bringing indoors potted plants and sheltering larger specimens in a garage or similar space. Shelter director advises winterizing outdoor animals and using protective doghouses.
The Mercer County canvass started on Monday with 52 challenged or provisional ballots approved for counting. District I precincts were completed and officials will resume Tuesday at 1 p.m. for District II.
