Icy bridges blamed for several Bluefield crashes
Icy conditions on area bridges caused multiple Friday morning accidents in Bluefield Virginia. A Clinch Valley Head Start van carrying five children overturned after hitting an ice patch on an eastbound Route 460 bridge. No injuries occurred beyond minor damage. all occupants wore seat belts. A second vehicle struck the same slick bridge, then a third vehicle, with no charges filed. A Raven Virginia resident also struck a bridge edge on a separate Bluefield bridge. Police urged caution as bridges ice first on cold mornings.
