Del. John Warren Cooke chairs a six member House sub committee meeting Monday with a full committee to follow next Friday. A public hearing on House redistricting is tentatively set for 10 a.m. Monday Nov. 16. Sen. Garland Gray says his five man Senate P and E subcommittee will meet next Tuesday and hopes to finish by Wednesday night. They may hold public hearings if demanded. Harrison notes hearings could be postponed until after the Assembly meets. He argues 1962 redistricting was reasonably equitable and that courts focus on population and political subdivisions, with no fixed tolerance guidelines. After 1962, House districts ranged 22 000 to 95 000 per delegate and Senate districts 61 000 to 163 000 per senator. The Senate has a guiding redistricting plan. the House has none yet.
