Mrs. Fannie D. Purcell 81 of Cleveland Virginia died Sunday afternoon in a Lebanon Virginia hospital after a long illness. She was a member of Cleveland Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband J Roy Purcell. Surviving are one son Dr. Joseph C. Purcell of Griffin Georgia three daughters Mrs Blaine Shumaker Bristol Tennessee Mrs Betty Clatterbuck and Mrs Paul Kiser of Cleveland Virginia 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Lebanon Funeral Home in Lebanon.
James Edward Rader 65 of Christiansburg Virginia died Saturday at his home. He left Stella W. Rader as his wife. Survived by daughter Kay Lynn Rader son Alfred Rader three sisters Bessie Mundy Gertrude Mundy and Ella Rader. Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Chapel with burial at Northfork Baptist Church Cemetery Ellett Virginia.
Mrs Dewie Lucas Cockill 74 of Pearisburg Va died Sunday in a Pearisburg hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles One sister Mrs BD Strother of Welch survives. Randolph Whitt 54 of Cleveland Ohio formerly of Jewel Ridge Virginia died in a Cleveland hospital early Sunday. He was incomplete at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands.

Lynn Jewell Pam Shields and Sandra Lambert shared the Mercer County Junior Miss title at Princeton High School. All three seniors attend local high schools and each received a $50 savings bond. They advance to the state pageant at Concord College on January 14 with 31 regional winners and independent candidates for the West Virginia Junior Miss title. Sandra Lambert won Miss Spirit in a secret ballot.
State Police trooper D B Meadows reported two Sunday crashes on U S Route 19 460 near Kegley and Littlesburg road. A 49 year old woman Lena Lorene Allen from Roderfield was injured when her car overturned after attempting to pass. She was pinned briefly and later admitted in good condition. Studded tires were listed as a contributing factor. A sports car driven by 23 year old John Horton of Duhring struck a fire hydrant after a tire blew, injuring Horton and his 18 year old wife Connie.
Prominent Bluefield businessman and civic leader L D Feuchtenberger was reported in satisfactory condition at Bluefield Sanitarium. The former member of the Board of Governors of the American Bakers Association was admitted Sunday morning due to a sudden illness, according to the attending physician.
