Colorado officials outlawed the coal strike led by the I W W in early November and ordered strikers to return to work. At Baldwin Canyon mines of Colorado Fuel and Iron, 400 to 590 strikers clashed with 15 state police and mine guards, with officers using pick handles and pistols. More than a dozen strikers were arrested, including two women, suspending operations at two nearby mines.

Berlin reports reveal Parker Gilbert agent general for reparations and the German finance minister Koehler published memorandum and government reply today. Gilbert warns that expanding public expenditure and borrowing risks a serious economic reaction while the government argues conditions have improved and there is no reason for alarm.
Boston reports Dr. George Bigelow, estate health commissioner, dispatched typhoid vaccine to western Massachusetts flood region. Enough vaccine covers one thousand cases as officials fear water contamination may trigger typhoid fever.
Reports from Boston indicate the flood crisis eased slightly with fewer deaths than first feared. Vermont towns including Barre and St Albans faced heavy damage and food and medical shortages as aid scales up, while Barre city reported $2,000,000 in damage and Waterbury begged for supplies.
Winnipeg dispatch reports Earle Nelson was sentenced to hang on January 13 after conviction for murdering Mrs. Family Patterson. Police describe a continent spanning terror with 19 women and an infant as victims of the "dark strangler." The jury deliberated briefly and Nelson made a brief, defiant remark prior to sentence.
Aaron Thrash aged 60, a prominent farmer stockman and Mineral County official, collapsed at his home near Burlington this afternoon. Heart trouble is believed to have caused his death while he served his sixth year on the county court.
