During a 21 knot endurance run off the New England coast the battleship North Dakota halted at Portsmouth after a seven inch boiler tube blew in the lower boilers. Four crewmen were injured—William H. Grange John Souden A Peterson fireman Peter McConnell as engineers cut off four boilers and returned to port.

In College Park Maryland this morning Lieutenant Lahmand Humphreys and another aeronaut suffered a minor crash during a demonstration. The Wright machine lost engine power, the left wing struck the ground, and both the right wing and skid were broken. No injuries were reported and the plane will be out of commission for a day or two.
Washington buyers a syndicate from North Carolina purchased the Marshal Brown property totaling 18 acres north of the city for 450000 dollars. The purchase is seen as likely to be divided into building lots for development.
Revived services at First Baptist Church drew better attendance than any prior meeting. Mr. Sledge delivered a fine sermon with one conversion and one addition to the church. Afternoon prayer services are set for C. G. Bettelle's east end home and Mrs. R. B. Lazenby's west end home at 3 PM. Noon service will be held at the planing mill railroad shops. Miss Emma Miller eighteen daughter of Mr and Mrs Lawson Miller died of typhoid fever yesterday morning at 6 30 at their home on Burton Street. A large circle of friends mourn her loss. Funeral is at 2 30 this afternoon from the family home with Rev T S Hamilton of Grace Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Mrs Theodore Roosevelt entertained a large group at the Hotel Beausite in Rome. A United States rumor of an accident to a former president in Africa was discredited. Mrs Roosevelt had heard nothing about any incident.
In Washington a rumor that former President Roosevelt was killed in Africa circulated briefly but no evidence or foundation supported it. Investigators found no mishap to Roosevelt reported by ocean cables and confirmed the rumor had no basis.
Government troops defeated revolutionists on November 5 near Manague. Many of Estrada's followers were killed wounded or captured. Government forces lost fifteen men including General Castillo Chammoro. Zelayas forces attacked rebel General Formes Diaz at Paso Las Lajas capturing the position held by about 100 defenders.
In Gassaway West Virginia on November 5 the uproar over the assault of Mrs. George Leckheld faded as suspects were moved to Sutton. Governor Glasscock and the state guard arrived, helping avert an apparent lynching last night.
