Bazaar by Bluewell Home Demonstration Club features numerous sale items. The event runs Nov 2 from 5 to 9 PM and Nov 3 from 10 AM to 8 PM at Brushfork Baptist Church on Old Bramwell Road.
A Bluefield Welcome Wagon Club trip offers a shopping excursion to the Bristol Mall with a Dixie Pottery side visit on Saturday November 10. Susan Mitchell accepts reservations at 327-7294 with an $8.40 fare and a deadline of Monday November 5. Bus departs Bluefield Auditorium parking lot at 8 p.m. and returns about 8 p.m.
Concord Branch of the American Association of University Women hosts an October program led by Mrs. Mona Poling and Dr. Fred Bailey. Dale Bailey, an 11 year old Mercer Elementary student, was selected for the International Children's Assembly in Sophia Bulgaria, with his father and Mrs. Poling present. The assembly shared unity creativity and beauty with 3500 children from 120 nations, featuring readings of Dale's poem Swords of Doom and translator aided exchanges.
The Laureate Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi presented a Hodges Gardens slide program from Southern Living, led by Mrs. Douglas Leffel and narrated by Mrs. E M Carrigan. Hodges Gardens opened in central Louisiana in 1956, maintained year round with seasonal plant displays and a habitat for birds. The meeting, hosted by Mrs. Barnard McClaughterty at her home, included eleven members and one guest, with a birthday party and cake to end the gathering. Mrs Carrigan thanked Mrs Leffel with a gift of appreciation.
