Warsaw reports widespread police resignations amid bomb outrages and terrorist attacks. Police say they would rather starve than risk assassination, with similar unrest noted in St. Petersburg and Tokyo as fleets maneuver in the Far East.
In the national league Brooklyn lost to New York 0 to 6. Boston defeated Philadelphia 1 to 3. In the American league Boston fell to Chicago 0 to 1 while New York beat Cleveland 1 to 0 and Philadelphia topped Detroit 5 to 2 with Washington 4, St. Louis 2.
Chicago May 26 The teamsters strike grows stronger with no barrier to its spread. Mayor Dunne says no troops will be needed this week. Lumbermen remain anxious fearing riotous uprisings in the wide district of lumber yards and plants, a region seen as highly susceptible to incendiarism.
Justice Mad dox this morning granted the motion in favor of Franklin B. Lord to enjoin the Equitable Life Assurance Society from carrying out the proposed plan of mutualization in Brooklyn.

The bones are said to come from far Eastern battlefields with fragments of flesh and uniforms allegedly still attached. The United Mine Workers unveiled a monument to Henry E. Taylor in Central City Kentucky on May 26. The memorial honors his death during a unionization effort at Hopkins county mines. National UMW officials and committeemen spoke at the ceremony before a large crowd.
Charlotte NC May 26 Mrs Mattie Beard of this county was seriously stung by honey bees while saving her cow. She received about fifty stings to the face and neck and her condition has been critical since 10 AM with little hope of recovery.
A Ripley and Mill Creek Valley railroad passenger coach left the track four miles from Ripley today and overturned down a small embankment. A dozen passengers inside were shaken but none seriously hurt. The accident was caused by a broken flange.
Anonymous letters sent to well known families threaten to burn their homes if colored staff are not dismissed. Residents anxious as police and postal authorities investigate the case.
In Yancey County North Carolina Charles Dean shot and killed his thirteen year old brother Morgan while hunting with a companion. The incident occurred after they jeered him for missing a bird. Charles Dean has been arrested.
Washington reports Senator Elkins of the Senate Committee on Interstate Commerce says the committee has not considered any report or recommendation after extended hearings on railway rate legislation. He notes a digest will be prepared and the committee will confer after each member reviews all aspects.
The West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals met in special session to hear Harvey Coal and Coke Co v Dillon on the constitutionality of a new leasehold tax. The case, a test of statewide tax reach, draws top local legal talent and involves Standard Oil in the leasehold dispute. A potential injunction request from South Pennsylvania Oil may be sought in circuit court, and the Standard intends appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court if the state ruling goes against it.

The Bluefield community faced a shocking tragedy when A. J. Samuel known as Jack Samuels died after shooting himself in his room. He was 20s or 30s, a longtime grocer partner, Elks member, and prominent local figure who lived in the Samuel home with his family.
The wedding of Miss Grizelda Houston Hall to Capt. Richmond Pearson Hobson was held at the Hall home in Tuxedo Park New York yesterday. An especial train brought guests from New York. The ceremony was quiet due to a recent death in the bride’s family.

Mrs Leavitt mother of Mrs Sam Turk, whose disappearance was noted yesterday, was located yesterday morning and returned to the city in the afternoon. She had left Bluefield on the early morning train to visit friends in Welch, saying she did not wish to disturb Mrs Turk at the early hour.
John Clark was fatally injured when run over while attempting to board a freight train at the West End tower Thursday night. He died yesterday morning at eleven o'clock. The body was taken to his home at Flat Top Yard for funeral services in the afternoon and interment followed at Pocahontas cemetery.
Robert A. Nye son of Dr Geo L Nye of Wytheville Va disappeared near Elkhorn in 1801 and was thought murdered. He wrote to his father recently from Southern Arizona where he works in copper mining and is expected to return this summer.
Paris reports Baron Alphonso de Rothschild head of the Parle branch of the Rothschild banking house died today at age noted in dispatches. His death marks a loss for the family and international finance circles.
