Four Deck Hands and One Passenger Dead in Naomi Fire
The passenger steamer Naomi burned on Lake Michigan near Grand Haven Milwau kee last night. Four deck hands died inside the tanks and one passenger perished later from burns. About 75 escaped, many in night clothes as fire spread rapidly from the kitchen to the upper works. The Crosby Transportation Company vessel was towed to harbor as crews battled the blaze. Captain Thomas Hal survived as the last to leave the ship.

Glass aged 49, a veteran yard conductor with the Norfolk and Western, died at the Central Hotel Roanoke at 5 a.m. He had served about twenty years with the railroad and held multiple posts.
