The Young Women’s Christian Association board will meet Tuesday at 7 30 p m with a spring membership session. Brief committee reports will be heard as part of the program. The Matoaka Bridge Tournament results and standings from Princeton Athens Matoaka Hiawatha and other towns are listed with high scores and prize details.
The Bluefield college choral society announced by director Mise Bya Marye McNeal a full slate of events. Members will picnic at Wolf Creek if weather allows and swim. On Monday at 8 pm they guest artist on the Music Cultura Club program and will sing classical pieces. They will also entertain at Bluefield College chapel hour on Tuesday and perform at baccalaureate and graduation exercises.
Blunfeld college president B C Wade toured high schools in the coatdelda region on Wednesday with Nisves Qua Marys McNeil and Fiarin Novel. They visited Jk Dorn Northfork Gary and Welch, delivering talks on Bluefield College and speaking with students about prospective enrollment. A Cuban student Pilarin Novel performed Spanish interpretations to enthusiastic reception, accompanied by Miss McNeal on piano.

The Wear Virginia Federation of Women's Clubs voted Friday to meet next year in Bluefield during the Wheeling session with about 1,500 delegates attending. A resolutions report urged war profits tax cuts, law reforms, crime prevention, patronage abolishment, tighter marriage license laws, and broader community action. Mrs Henrietta Romine of Wheeling presented the report as leaders including Mrs John Speed Harvey of Huntington and Mrs L B Willyoung of Princeton attended.
Hampden Sidney College and Bluefield College announce a first summer session from June 16 to August 1 at Bluefield College. The two week session offers a full semester credit, with potential six week courses for extended study. Recreational facilities are available at the adjacent country club for a small fee, including golf, swimming, and tennis.
An inaperational talk at Bluefield College opened by scripture fusion. Thomas Mhoraton framed optimism and opportunity in every difficulty. Bane Underwood led the program with a brief scripture, Cecil Lilly gave a regime, and Wetty Dileher delivered a tribute to Samuel Morse Laventor of the Margs ode. Marshall Carpenter, a longtime religious leader, played a prominent role in the proceedings.
The Sisterhood of Ahayath Slolem hosts a masquerade on Tuesday June 16 from 10 pm to 2 am at the Memorial building Princeton. Prizes awarded for most original and most combined costumes. Robert Marchant of Columbia arrived Thursday to visit Mrs Merchant, mother of James W Bailey. Mrs Merchant attended the marriage of Seabel Pollock to Myra Merchant’s son. Also correction: Bland Street Vacation Bible School runs June 8 to June 23.
Sigma beta sorority held a formal 8 o clock Monday reception at the home of Miss Blancha Lagahby on Memorial avenue to honor patronesses Mia Oscar M. Deyerle Miss Frances Zimmerman and Mrs. Dean Hosmer. The home was decorated with flowers and plants. guests received violet sachets for ladies and white buttoners for men. Performances included Miss Mary Edmondson on semi chorus piano, Miss Wilmer Peters on two violins with Mrs. Marvin G. Williams at the piano and Miss Shirley Foster in a humorous dramatic reading Brotherly Love. Notables included President and Mrs. B. C. Wade Mr. and Mrs. BE. M. Southban Dr. and Mrs. Hugene Berry Mr. and Mrs. Marvin G. Williams Mrs. Te BL Lazenby Mina Virginia Le Grand of Lynchburg Va Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Trent Miss Rachel Francis president of Sigma Tau Alpha sorority and Miss Jessica Le Grand sponsor. Sorority members served open-face sandwiches sorority mints and punch.
A colorful Bluefield College barn dance in the gymnasium featured a rustic theme with charming decorations and an old pantry store display. Intermission floor show by Grand Page of New York, under MGM contract, plus performances by Bluefield College trio Mary Margaret Helmintoler Eva Marye McNeal and Juanita Martin, and guest WHIS figures, with parents as chaperones and Dick Kineer Orchestra providing music from 8:30 to 11:80.
Dean V P I Norris, dean of Virginia Polytechnical Institute and head of the school of engineering, spoke at Bluefield College on Tuesday. He traced engineering history and highlighted its future as a profession for young men, praising its prospects and urging continued pursuit of engineering careers. Professor C H Trent introduced the speaker at the college chapel event.
The Firat Chrie taf church Junior church sponsors a missionary shower to send gifts to school children in Africa. The young folk are asked to bring crayons pencils crepe paper and other craft materials for actogl work during the 11 oclock Sunday service.
Bluefield College Draw matic club presented To Repeat Play The Patsy a three act comedy on Thursday evening May 1 with such success that Bramwell asked for a repeat at the high school auditorium on Wednesday evening May 20. The cast includes Virginia Lee Fisher J B Alley Harold Perdue Margaret Thornhill Rachel Frahela Walter Woolwine Dot Lawrence James Kahle and William Stott. Directed and produced by Miss Jessla R LeGrand.
