May Prove a Solution Of Rate Difficulties
Washington May 15 Special What will evidently be a solution of the recent difficulties encountered in the western coal freight rate question will be an interstate commerce commission order this morning advancing the effective date from May 30 to June 1 and the announced intention of the Virginia Railroad officials to eventually publish tariffs on west bound coal from the Virginia field via Matoka and the Norfolk and Western Railway to become effective on the last named date. It is also announced the Norfolk and Western is pushing to rapid completion a yard at Matoaka that will have a capacity of 1400 cars. The Virginian officials have made no announcement as to their proposed work on securing an injunction in the federal courts to resist putting in western rates via the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway at Deepwater and Pemberton.
