Alderson of Levarton Va won the unanimous judge’s top honor in the annual jamation and reading contest at the college auditorium. Martha Jeter Lazenby received the unanimous second place and a silver loving cup was awarded to Miss Lazenby. Lad Meets Death Atop Freight Car
Willis Hughes an 18 year old from Bondtown Virginia died yesterday while en route to a fasting expedition. He toppled from a Norfolk and Western freight car near Little Tom overhang and was struck on the head. He died on the way to Coeburn hospital. He was accompanied by six companions including his older brother Roy Hughes and several others from St Paul Wise and Bondtown. The accident occurred around 10 30 pm.

Bus Crash Injures Seventeen Near Covington
