Ghent Bridge Gets First West Virginia ABC Replacement
A new accelerated bridge construction project began on the West Virginia Turnpike in Ghent to replace the 220 foot two lane deck on northbound I 77 over Route 48. The pre cast elements are assembled beside the old bridge and slid into place while a new superstructure is built underneath. The method aims to shorten road closures and reduce safety risks for motorists and workers while promising quicker, more economical repairs.
