Commodities fall drags markets as unemployment jumps
A sharp drop in oil and silver prices and a jump to 474,000 initial unemployment claims spurred market fear. Dow fell 139.41 points to 12,584.17 while S&P 500 lost 0.9 percent and Nasdaq slipped 0.5 percent. Bonds rose with the 10 year yield at 3.16 percent. Gas nears four dollars, and major firms raised prices amid concerns over consumer demand.

Families seek Cuccinelli disqualification in Tech shootings case
In Christiansburg Virginia two families suing Virginia Tech over the 2007 mass shootings urge Montgomery County Circuit Court to disqualify Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. They argue his public statements and posted court papers undermine a fair trial for their 10 million wrongful death suits and name a group of Tech leaders tied to the school's image. A Cuccinelli spokesman calls the motion meritless.
