Shooting in Kentucky is Murder in Tennessee
Middlesboro Ky May 4 Charles and Patton Ball were discharged from custody today by Judge Moss of Bell county circuit court. They were on trial for the murder of Meade Cottrell. It was proven that though Cottrell was shot in Kentucky he died in Tennessee and thus the crime of murder had not been committed in this state. The judge discharged the jury and liberated the Balls on defense motion. This is the first Kentucky court ruling on the issue.
