Police report a robbery at a Hong Kong restaurant in the central business district Friday night. Suspects stole bird nests valued over 250000 and 5000 in cash. Virginia death row inmate Roger Keith Coleman, 33, insists he did not kill or rape Wanda McCoy in Buchanan County in 1982. In a 45 minute Mecklen burg Correctional Center interview, Coleman defends his trial defense and claims ongoing appeals failed due to technicalities and incompetent representation.
Appalachian author Lee Smith urged Bluefield College’s 91 graduates to view graduation as life’s initiation, calling this ceremony the transition of their story to the main plot.
