Car Wreck Victim No Longer Critical
Arthur Edward Hamlin 33 from Mechanicsburg area was removed from critical condition after a single car crash near Crandon on Route 42. He suffered a severe head laceration when the car rolled after leaving the road, with Jack Blankship of Mechanicsburg injured by a fractured shoulder. The 1952 Ford was borrowed from Woodson Thompson of Bland and the vehicle was demolished.

Charleston May 2 A new deputy for the inheritance tax division and a new division head were announced. Louie Miller Jr of Charleston was named deputy commissioner of the Tax Department inheritance tax division. Richard Bailey of Bluefield, an appraiser in the same division, succeeds Miller as director. Both are attorneys. Bailey is a former director attorney for the Rent Stabilization Board in Southern West Virginia.
