Benefits of Total Abstinence in Sunday School Lesson
The May 8 lesson from The Congregationalist emphasizes voluntary total abstinence over prohibition. It argues laws cannot ensure abstinence, citing Daniel's example of choosing discipline over unlawful indulgence, and urges clean living for national welfare. The note also memorializes Mr. Knowles, longtime Pocahontas church organist and music instructor, detailing funeral arrangements and lodge involvement.
