The Roanoke telegraph reports the Wesleyan Female Institute at Staunton faces closure with the property in receivership and about 87000 in debt. A stock company plan and a lease to the receiver are proposed while missions contributions total 16305.55 for the year. Adjournment is unlikely before Wednesday morning.
Roanoke traveler Fred Geilinger and many residents are noted in a long list of city visitors and passers through. The Radford funeral of J Ed. Davis is reported with details of his life and survivor, and many local names appear visiting or traveling to nearby towns.
Washington reports predict rapid disposal of the Cuban resolutions in Congress with strong House support and limited Senate action. The action is viewed as a belligerent recognition by Cuba and possibly Spain, though authorities differ on Congress power versus executive action and possible Spanish reactions.

Friday evening drew a large audience to a fine program by Miss May Hicks and Miss Mattie Kennedy. Hicks impressed with recitations The Gypsy Flower Girl and Mammy's Lil Boy while Kennedy delivered strong singing. A Ladies Auxiliary meeting and a gospel service followed with short talks and a solo by Mrs E E Kep hart.
