Smoldering ruins on Reese Street leave J H Turner residence burned to the ground with inmates escaping by minutes. Two other nearby buildings suffer heavy damage as fire fiend continues to threaten the neighborhood.
Early morning blaze on Reese Street originated in Engineer J. H. Turner’s residence and rapidly spread, with firefighters from two companies preventing further spread. The Turner, Emmons, and Building and Loan Association properties were badly damaged or destroyed, with most possessions lost and insurance unlikely to cover the full cost.

In Dolomite near Birmingham on March 29, Negro miners attacked a white camp. White defenders fired back, several blacks were wounded. Reinforcements were dispatched to Deputy Sheriffs and Sheriff O'Brien to restore order as rumors say recently mustered Negro soldiers are inciting violence.

Bridget Me Gowan a window cleaner fell from the tenth story to the landing of the second floor at the Vendome Hotel in New York today. She was instantly killed and suffered skull and leg injuries as well as broken ribs. She toppled while handing up clothes after losing balance. The fall covered about 100 feet.
