Crash survivor in ICU after fatal single car wreck

Edward L. Thomas, 20, of Princeton is in guarded condition at Princeton Community Hospital after a Thursday Brickyard Road crash that killed Stephanie Swecker, 18, Denise Portell, 22, and Portell's 3 year old son, Adam. Fifth Generation to revitalize Bluefield downtown district

Fifth Generation founders Seth Peters and Steve Kappeler unveiled plans to convert the 1924 Peery Building, once home to the Bluefield Sanitarium, into a dormitory with a restaurant, laundromat, game room and shops. The $750000 to $1 million project aims to house up to 250 students, create 45 to 50 jobs, and includes bus service and 300 parking spaces. The Bluefield Board of Directors approved the plan, with formal support letters forthcoming.
