The Richlands Eastern Star chapter held a meeting in Masonic hall and elected officers for 1930 led by Worthy Matron Marie Underwood and Worthy Patron Harry Tarter. William J. Lester 77 died at his home in the Wardell vicinity last Friday March 7 from pneumonia and complications. A large crowd attended his funeral held Sunday with interment in the Lester cemetery near Midway.

Maxwell Youth Dies From Wound Near Mohawk
Charles Maxwell son of John Maxwell of Mohawk was killed by a pistol wound Monday night a few miles west of Mohawk at Alnwick. The body was brought to Maxwell Thursday for interment in Maxwell cemetery. The Maxwells, former Wazewell county residents, moved to Bluefield and then Mohawk, W Va, with relatives in Richlands and Maxwell.

Still in Hospital After Fall at Daughter’s Home
Mrs. Mary F. Johnston age 81 remains a patient at Mattie Williams hospital six months after a fall at her daughter Mrs. M C Lee’s home. Her condition is not thought favorable now. 42 Party Hosts Mr and Mrs J S Maxwell and Mr and Mrs Robert Lambert held a 42 party at the former’s home last Thursday night. The house was decorated with potted plants and tulips. Trivett Remembered at Holiness Church Service
A funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o clock at the Holiness church for Mr Trivett who died Friday morning in er West Virginia. Rev Lindville of Johnson City Tennessee conducted the service and interment followed at Maxwell cemetery. Brick Plant to Restart Under New Supervisor at Richlands
The Richlands Brick corporation plans to resume work Monday after a three month idle period if repairs finish on time. Superintendent A A W Kelly, newly arrived from Bristol, will oversee operations. M J Mathas left in December for West Salem, Ir. The restart promises work for many men and boys while nearby mines reopen with reduced wages. Some workers have tilled plots for small truck gardens during downtime.

Fire damages W. and M. Rogers Science Hall
A fire this afternoon at the Rogers science hall of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg Virginia damaged the roof and third floor. Fire departments from Williamsburg Yorktown Fort Eustis and Newport News fought the blaze which started in the elevator shaft the second such blaze since the building’s year and a half old construction costing 300000 dollars.

War on moonshine roars in Tazewell County raid
Dry officers in Tazewell County raided Horsepen Cove seizing a 100 gallon copper still 500 gallons of beer five gallons of moonshine liquor 400 pounds of sugar and three saddle horses. The beer distillery and liquor were destroyed while sugar and horses were turned to the sheriff and the prisoners jailed awaiting the May grand jury.
