Horace G. McDowell, president of the Farmers Bank of Canton, shot and killed himself today. The report is part of a telegraphed world round up from Columbus and other cities on March 13.

Toulon March 13 Efforts to recover bodies from the explosion on the French battleship Iena have continued twenty four hours with eight officers and 110 men still missing. It is believed all these missing may have perished and the total dead could reach 120 prompting mortuary space at the naval hospital.
Omaha attorneys represent seven nephews and nieces not named in the will of John A. Creighton. They seek to contest probate citing a $7.5 million estate with one fourth to relatives and three fourths to charities and schools. Probate is set for Saturday unless a contest is filed.
Edward Duddy told police he saw four year old Horace Marvin with a woman at a trolley station near the car terminal in Jersey City. He carried a newspaper with the boy’s photo and description and recalls the boy crying before the woman vanished. Authorities will investigate.

Washington March 13 During the senate military affairs inquiry into the Brownsville shooting Joseph Henry Howard a discharged negro soldier testified he was one of twelve men arrested for complicity. He said he had not been offered a plea and would tell all he knew if needed He remained ready for trial at all times and willing to tell what he knew about the shooting.

New York markets opened with renewed nervousness as heavy selling driven by money market needs sent high grade railroad stocks into a panic. Prices melted under forced liquidation, margins were wiped out, and collateral loans piled onto the market.
In Toulon France March 13 Minister of Marine Thompson and the scene of the Lena wreck were inspected. 407 men replied to their names on the roll of the battleship where the explosion occurred yesterday. 24 officers and engineers are reported safe. 44 crew members are seriously wounded in hospitals. With 680 officers and crew total, 155 remain unaccounted for but authorities expect many have sought refuge in Toulon.
The Ruef trial in San Francisco proceeds after four jurors are drawn. The grand jury case involves extortion allegations and the trial will resume Monday.
In the Ruef case the French restaurant keepers trial was continued in Judge Dunne's court until Monday morning. Counsel objected to drawing more names during Juror Dumbrell's absence. Judge Dunne ordered a four day suspension to await the Supreme Court decision on Ruef's habeas corpus release.
Floodwaters of the Monongahela and Ohio rivers surge through Pittsburg area raising to 26 feet and expected 28 feet. Towns in the Monongahela Valley submerged. basements flooded. a Haramsville bridge collapse sent a freight train into the water drowning three trainmen. Residents rescued by skiff as coal mine work halted.
The towboat Cruise owned by the Monongahela River Consolidated Coal and Coke Company was wrecked and sunk against the pier at lock No. 3. Two crewmen died, two were rescued a mile below after an hour in icy water, and three clung to the bow and were saved. The Cruise carried thirteen men under Captain H. Sweeney with twelve barges of coal in dense fog.
The British tramp steamer Gowanburn under Captain Forbes ran aground on the south shore of Long Island in fog and is fast aground. The vessel rests easily and is not believed to be in immediate danger.
J H Crutchfield was fined one hundred dollars and sent to the city stockade for seven days after assaulting Col John Temple Graves. He was bound over to a higher court under a thousand dollar bond on assault and battery charges.
Pittsburg March 13 An engineer a fireman and a brakeman on the West Pennsylvania railroad were drowned this morning when a bridge near Hermansville collapsed the engine with two cars of freight went down their bodies not recovered
